Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl may have updated visuals and some new features, but the Switch remakes don't stray far from the original source material. The same Gym Leaders and Pokemon are available to catch (with a few welcome additions), and the same RPG systems and puzzle solutions are still in place.

This traditional formula should be familiar to fans, but it's been 15 years since the original DS versions of Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl were released. So, old and new trainers alike could be stuck figuring out how to get the Works Key for the Valley Windworks building.

How to Get Works Key for Valley Windworks in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Floaroma Works Key Entrance

After beating Roark in the Oreburgh City Gym and earning their first badge, trainers will head through Route 204, above Jubilife City. The flower-filled area teaches players about Berries and Honey, but to continue to Eterna City, the Works Key for the Valley Windworks must be located.

After defeating the Team Galactic villain guarding the Valley Windworks, he will inform players that his teammates have the Works Key, then depart. He isn't entirely clear on how players can find his teammates and get the key, however.

To get the Works Key in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, players must head back west to Floaroma Town and go through the northwestern entrance, above the rows of pink flowers. It was previously blocked by two Galactic enemies, but they will move when the guard outside the Windworks is defeated.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Floaroma Town

Go through the northwestern entrance in Floaroma Town to find two enemies and defeat them to obtain the Works Key. Then, head back to the Valley Windworks and use it on the locked door. Players will have to battle some of Team Galactic before encountering a scientist and setting him free. The path north across the bridge is now unguarded, meaning players can progress through Eterna Forest and eventually beat Gardenia in the Eterna City Gym.

Before leaving Floaroma behind, be sure to talk to the old couple located southwest in the town to get Mew and Jirachi in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl for free if Pokemon: Let's Go Pikachu or Lets Go Eevee have been played on that user account. Just keep in mind that these characters cannot be obtained from the couple again. So, if someone trades or releases their Mew or Jirachi, they won't be able to get them again in that save file.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are out now for Nintendo Switch.
