Evolution Stones have played an important role in the Pokemon series ever since the very beginning and continue to do so in modern Pokemon games. These days, however, there are ten different stones available rather than just five, with all but one of these appearing in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl. The functionality remains very much the same, though the way that players actually find certain Evolution Stones has changed quite a bit over the years.

Unlike the first generation games, in which players could simply buy most Evolution Stones from a Department Store, Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl require players to find the stones that they need out in the field. Those hoping to get their hands on a Fire Stone do have a few different options though, as these iconic yellow and orange stones show up in a few different locations throughout the games.

Where to Find a Fire Stone in Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl

The best place to find Fire Stones is inside the Fuego Ironworks, an optional location that can be found north of Floaroma Town by using Surf to travel west on Route 205. Inside, players will be able to find a Fire Stone in the top right-hand corner of the facility and can get another one by speaking to Mr. Fuego in the center of the maze. Players will also be able to exchange colored shards for valuable Star Pieces here, so it's a good place to visit after a long mining session down in the Grand Underground. There's also a third Fire Stone hidden in the Solaceon Ruins.

While on the subject of the Grand Underground, players can also find Fire Stones there just by taking part in the excavation mini-game. They're not exactly common, but those hoping to dig up enough Mysterious Shards to obtain all of the Legendary Pokemon that are available at Ramanas Park are going to be spending a lot of time digging down there, and so will probably end up finding a somewhat sizeable stock of Fire Stones during the process.

Pokemon That Evolve Using a Fire Stone in Brilliant Diamond Diamond & Shining Pearl

  • Vulpix -> Ninetales
  • Growlithe -> Arcanine
  • Eevee -> Flareon

There are only three Pokemon that evolve using a Fire Stone in Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl due to the games only including Pokemon up to gen 4. Interestingly, all three of them are gen 1 Pokemon, although two of them are version-specific. Brilliant Diamond players will be able to find Growlithe down in the Grand Underground, while Shining Pearl players will instead get Vulpix. The final Pokemon that evolves using a Fire Stone is Eevee, which players can get from Bebe in Hearthome City after unlocking the National Pokedex.
