There are plenty of things that fans love about Sinnoh, but one of the things often overlooked is that Generation's arc of the anime. Often considered to be among the best, a large part of that is due to Ash's team of Pokemon, which was arguably one of his strongest ever.

Naturally, this has led players to want to recreate it in the new Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl remakes, perhaps even roleplaying as Ash throughout the game. While Ash ended up with six Pokemon on his team, he had eight at some point during his time in Sinnoh, and players want to know where to find them all.

8 Pikachu

Ash's team would have never even begun without Pikachu on it. The oldest partner Ash has ever known, and the one Pokemon that will stick by his side (and on his shoulder) through everything. As the face of the franchise, Pikachu is catchable in almost every main series game to date, and Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are no exceptions.

For Pikachu, players will need to venture to the Trophy Garden at the back of the Pokemon Mansion on Route 212. Thankfully, Pikachu isn't a rare Pokemon here, encounterable at all times with a 10% encounter rate.

7 Aipom

Originally a member of Ash's Hoenn team, Aipom came to Sinnoh with Ash after stowing away onboard the boat on which Ash traveled from Hoenn to Sinnoh. This meant that it was a member of Ash's team in the region for a while, performing in multiple Gym battles, eventually being traded to traveling companion Dawn and becoming an Ambipom.

There are two ways to find Aipom in Sinnoh. The first is using Honey Trees. Aipom is part of both the common and rare encounter pools, so slathering honey on every tree players come across is sure to get it to them in no time. Alternatively, once the player has acquired Defog, Aipom can be found in the Grand Underground in the Plain and Spacious Caves.

6 Staraptor

Pokemon Staraptor flying in battle

In the anime, it has become common practice that Ash always catches each region's regional bird, often as his first capture. This meant Starly - and subsequently, Staraptor - were shoe-ins for this team.

This will be one of the first of Ash's Pokemon players will be able to catch in the game, as it is available on Route 201, the game's very first route. In fact, the very first battle in the game is against a Starly, although that one is uncatchable. It continues to be available on almost every route throughout the early section of the game, so it'll be virtually impossible to miss.

5 Torterra

Pokemon Torterra with trainer in battle

Like the regional birds, Ash always gets his hands on at least one of the region's Starter Pokemon. Piplup was owned by Dawn in this Generation, which left Turtwig available to be a member of Ash's team, eventually evolving into a Torterra and playing a pivotal role in many of the biggest battles.

As a Starter Pokemon, getting hold of it is very easy, as all players have to do is pick it right at the start of the game. However, if another Starter has already been picked, then never fear. The Grand Underground gives access to every Starter Pokemon once players have obtained their National Pokedex. Turtwig can be found as a rare spawn in the Grasslit, Riverbank, Still-Water & Sunlit Caverns.

4 Buizel

Ash's Buizel in Pokemon anime

A headstrong Pokemon always looking for a fight, Buizel was initially caught by Dawn and used in contests. However, it quickly became apparent that Buizel had far more interest in battling than performing, which led to Dawn trading Buizel to Ash in exchange for Aipom.

Once on Ash's team, Buizel became a force to be reckoned with, despite never evolving into Floatzel. Capturing it isn't too difficult, being obtainable just after the 1st Gym battle. On the other side of Floaroma Town is the Valley Windworks, where Buizel is the most common Pokemon in the grass, along with Route 205 just north of that point.

3 Infernape

Pokemon Pearl

A fan-favorite and arguably Ash's strongest Pokemon ever, Infernape became the star of the show as Ash traveled around Sinnoh. Originally belonging to Ash's rival, Paul, Chimchar was abandoned by the heartless trainer for being too weak. Ash took Chimchar in and brought the best of out it, eventually defeating Paul's Electavire in the Sinnoh League, as well as recently returning in Pokemon Journeys.

Like Turtwig, Chimchar is a Starter Pokemon, so it can be chosen at the very start of the player's Pokemon adventure. However, like all the other Starter Pokemon, if players didn't initially choose it, they can still obtain it via the Grand Underground. Spawning only after the player gets their National dex, Chimchar spawns rarely in the Volcanic, Sandsear, & Typhlo Caverns.

2 Gliscor

Gliscor flying from the Pokemon Anime Cropped

One of Ash's less well-remembered Pokemon, Gliscor had a strange arc throughout its time on Ash's team. As a Gligar, it was a bit of a wimp. It would burst into tears at the slightest provocation and was easily intimidated by opposing Pokemon. Eventually, however, it grew confident, and Ash allowed it to evolve into Gliscor as a result.

Obtaining a Gliscor in the games is going to take a bit of legwork. Firstly, it's exclusive to Brilliant Diamond. In that game, it can be obtained as soon as players have access to the Grand Underground, spawning in the Rocky, Swampy, Sunlit, and Bogsunk Caversn from the getgo. Unfortunately, players won't be able to evolve it until the post-game, as the Razor Fang item required can only be found in the Battle Park, in front of the Battle Tower.

1 Gible

Pokemon Journeys Ash's Gible Sinnoh Dragon Ground Type

A pretty late addition to Ash's team, Gible was a quirky Pokemon that never reached its full potential as an unstoppable Garchomp. It did, however, learn Draco Meteor, which sometimes made it a force to be reckoned with.

As the Pseudo-Legendary Pokemon of the Sinnoh region, Gible is in high demand, but players will have to wait a while into their adventure before getting one. The first is in a secret entrance to Wayward Cave, hidden under the Cycling Road, with boulders requiring strength to move. The second is in the Grand Underground, but only after the Snowpoint City Gym Badge has been obtained. It will then start to spawn in the Fountainspring, Riverbank & Still-Water Caverns.
