Though nowhere near as prominant as they are in other series like The Witcher, Fallout, and Mess Effect, choices have always played an important role in Pokemon games. Whether it's selecting the right starter Pokemon, fussing over a fossil, or agonizing over which of the two versions of the game to actually buy, series regulars are definitely no strangers to choices at this point in time. That said, however, there is one seemingly big decision that may well catch some Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl players a little by surprise.

Not long after beating Gardenia in Eterna City, players will run into Dawn on Route 207 as they approach the entrance to Mt. Coronet. Following a little small talk, she'll explain that she has something for the player and ask them to choose between her left or right hands. The game gives players no obvious clues as to which one they should choose, leading many to wonder whether they could potentially be about to miss out on something great. Thankfully though, there's really nothing for them to worry about.

Should Players Choose Dawn's Left Hand or Her Right?

Unlike some of the other big decisions that players will need to make while playing Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, it doesn't matter which hand players choose. Whichever one they pick, they'll first be given the Vs. Seeker, followed shortly after by the Dowsing Machine app. Some may well be wondering whether the hand that players choose affects the order in which the player receives the two gifts, but, just like in the original games, the Vs. Seeker always comes first regardless of the player's choice.

How to Use the Vs. Seeker

The Vs. Seeker allows players to rebattle certain trainers. For this to happen, players simply need to select the Vs. Seeker from the Key Items pocket of the bag while standing near a trainer who they've already defeated. If the trainer is interested in battling again, two red exclamation points will appear above their head, at which point, players can initiate a battle in any of the usual ways. The trainers will have stronger Pokemon than they did the first time that players battled them, making this a great way to level up Pokemon. Players will need to walk 100 steps to recharge the Vs. Seeker after each use though.

How to Use the Dowsing Machine App

The Dowsing Machine app is one of many that can be installed on the player's Poketch device. It's used to help pinpoint the locations of hidden items, with players simply needing to follow the graph and then hit the A button to search when they're in the right spot. To open the app, players should hit the R button to bring up the Poketch screen and then use either the touchscreen of their Switch or the hand cursor to select the button on the right side of the device to cycle between apps. When they're ready to turn off the Poketch screen, players will simply need to hold the R button for a second or two.
