Throughout players' adventures in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, they will need to eventually cut down certain trees in order to progress through the story. The Hidden Move called Cut is what trainers can use to slice these trees down. In previous Pokemon games, Cut would have to be reached to the appropriate Pokemon and then must be in the party for the trainer to cut down trees. In these remakes of Diamond and Pearl, cutting down trees is done a bit differently.

How to Get Cut in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

After players make their way to Eterna City after getting their first Gym badge from Roark, they will need to walk to the city's north side, where the Team Galactic Building is at. Once players pass by it, a short cutscene will happen, and trainers will run into Cynthia, the champion of the Elite Four. She will give players a few TM93s, which is the technical machine for the move Cut. It's a Normal-type move that does 50 damage in battle and can be taught to the appropriate pocket monster.

How to Get Hidden Move Cut on the Poketch

For the Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl players that prefer to not waste a move slot for the move Cut, they can also unlock the hidden move on the app for the Poketch. To get permission to use the move, players will need to defeat Gardenia in battle at her gym in Eterna City. She uses Grass-type Pokemon, so players should come prepared with at least one Flying-type or Fire-type Pokemon.

With the Cut move now available on the Poketch, trainers can use the help of a wild Pokemon to cut down any trees that look cuttable. Players will now have access to many new areas in the Sinnoh region, like the Galactic building in Eterna, which is needed to progress the story and get a bike. Players will find the bicycle shop in the city to be empty, but the owner is being kept inside of the Galactic building, so players will need to head inside and battle some trainers to save him. He'll reward players with a free bike back at his shop.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are now available for the Nintendo Switch.
