Ever since the introduction of Pokemon's Kanto region back in the late 90s, the move called Flash has been pivotal for trainers making their way through dark caves and tunnels. Without a Pokemon knowing the move Flash, there was almost no way for players to traverse through certain areas without bumping into walls, facing unknown trainers, and getting lost.

The thing is, Flash used to be an HM, but in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, it's not, and players will need to go out of their way to obtain it, especially if they plan to make their way through the unlit Wayward Cave. Here's how Pokemon BDSP players can get Flash to make their way through the Wayward Cave under Cycling Road.

Where to Find Flash TM/HM in Pokemon BDSP

If players have beaten the Oreburgh City Gym Leader and have access to the Rock Smash HM, gamers can get Flash pretty early on. Players should follow these steps to find the Flash item location:

  • Starting from Oreburgh City, head west and enter Oreburgh Gate (it's a cave).
  • Take the path that leads north and use Rock Smash on the rock blocking the way.
  • Go down the stairs.
  • Go down another set of stairs, and then there will be two breakable blocks on the right side near a Poke Ball lying on the ground. TM 70 Flash will be inside of the Poke Ball.

Flash can also be purchased on the Department Store's third floor in Veilstone City for 1000 Poke Dollars.

How to Use Flash

Unlike the HMs in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, there's no way to use Flash via the Poketch device. Instead, Flash will have to be taught to a Pokemon in the player's party. Once players are inside the dark cave, they need to go into the menu, choose "Pokemon," and then click on the Pokemon that has the move Flash, and then use it from there.

Flash isn't the best move to have in a Pokemon battle, as all it does is lower the target Pokemon's accuracy. If players don't want one of their lead Pokemon to learn the move, or if they can't learn it at all, then players should probably find a Pokemon to teach Flash to that they have back in the box.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl is now available for the Nintendo Switch.
