Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl have been officially out for a week today, and they are already a big success in Japan, with local sales amounting to almost 1.4 million copies sold within the first three days. Generation 4 of Pokemon games was one of the most beloved by players, possibly due to it adding a lot of interesting lore to the series. In fact, the tale of Arceus in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl lives on even if the Legendary God Pokemon is not available at the moment.

A huge factor in the remakes' development is that they were always meant to be faithful to Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, implementing all of the core features of the original games and improving them. An example comes from the Grand Underground, which now offers much more content than the original games ever had tied to it, and it even allows Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl players to make better and more diverse teams very early in the game.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are also rather flawed games, unfortunately, and many players have been encountering glitches and issues in their playthroughs, some even quite serious, such as a major softlock inside the Snowpoint Gym. As such, it doesn't come as a surprise that a Reddit user called Cavannugent entered a battle with an icy, snowy background from Candice's Gym, but the catch is that there is also a still image of Infernape stamped on the screen. This makes it hard to see much while the battle goes on, and it finally goes away when the player uses their Luxray's Thunder.

The same player then ran into yet another battle background issue, where using their Haunter's Hypnosis makes everything around it glitched, and it only returned back to normal after the opposing Pokemon was finally put to sleep. These are just some of the bugs happening in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, which some gamers have been comparing with the original Generation 4 titles due to them having issues as well.

Another ridiculous glitch is that some Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl players are encountering invisible NPCs, such as Riley. This too happened in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, making it a weird occurrence in the remakes. Ultimately, players should expect to run in similar issues to some degree, but softlocks aside, they never have much of an impact on actual gameplay.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are available now on Nintendo Switch.
