Whether players are trying to speedrun collecting all the Pokemon in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl or just trying to catch their favorites, one of the more difficult monsters to catch is Aipom.

What is an Aipom?

In Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl, Aipom is a Normal-type Pokemon. It looks a lot like a monkey with a long tail; the tail has a hand on the end of it. This normal Pokemon is weak against fighting and strong against ghost.

Battling against an Aipom also grants Pokemon one Effort Value (EV) in Speed. Aipom evolves into Ambipom by leveling while knowing Double Hit. The nature to look for in this normal-type Pokemon is Jolly; this will give its already high speed an even bigger boost.

  • Grand Underground: Once players have gotten Defog, they will be able to find this Pokemon in the Grand Underground. Look for Aipom in the Spacious Cave.
  • Route 213 - Look for this little guy in caves or tall grass. Its appearance rate is low in the morning, okay during the day, but much higher at night.
  • Honey Tree - Aipom's appearance rate is fairly low in any of the Honey Tree locations, but players may be able to find one there if they look long enough.
  • Trading - The best way to get any kind of Pokemon in Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl or almost any other Pokemon game is to trade with someone who has one already. This is also a great way to get the version-exclusive Pokemon that players can't get in their copy.

If players don't have any friends to trade with, the best way to try to get an Aipom is to fight one along Route 213 at night. This Pokemon's catch rate is 45, and it is 5.9% with a PokeBall at full HP.
