The world of Pokemon is vast and engaging, captivating players for over 25 years. It's no surprise to hear that gamers have found ways to port Pokemon games to systems they were never designed for. It's a time-honored tradition in some circles to find ways to play games like Doom on creative new platforms, so these Pokemon titles are in good company. One enterprising fan recently shared a video of the newly-released Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl being played on--or rather, in--a Ford Focus.

The Ford Focus is one of many car designs that features a display screen inside the vehicle. While it doesn't seem that the Ford Focus was built with playing video games in mind, it's far from the strangest device that gamers have figured out how to play games on.

Redditor BigRig_Pikachu shared a 16-second-long video showcasing themself playing either Pokemon Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl on a Ford Focus. The video is not dedicated to showing off the achievement so much as it is putting a spotlight on one specific glitch that may be encountered when playing Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Apparently, entering the tall grass on Route 203 can cause the screen to glitch out, but BigRig_Pikachu has figured out how to restore it.

According to BigRig_Pikachu, the visual glitch can be fixed by holding one's foot on the brake and changing gear to reverse. However, this fix reportedly only works in a 2014 Ford Focus, so enterprising gamers with another model of the car may have to find their own solutions. Although the idea of playing Pokemon in a car may sound unlikely – and unnecessarily difficult – the screen appears to be roughly the same size as a Nintendo Switch screen in handheld or tabletop mode. This means players can easily make out the wonky follow animation for Ekans.

It appears that other fans are more impressed by BigRig_Pikachu's ability to play Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl on a Ford Focus than they are by the glitch workaround. This isn't the only glitch found in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, but it may be one of the most difficult for the average player to encounter. One user replied to this post by joking that Nintendo didn't do any playtesting for the Ford Focus edition of the games, while another said that BigRig_Pikachu should send their Ford Focus back to Nintendo for repairs.

Pokemon: Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are now available for Nintendo Switch.
