Within the Pokemon world, Blissey is known to be kind, gentle, and caring. A common helper to nurses and doctors, she helps care for people and Pokemon alike. In the anime, both she and her pre-evolved form Chansey are seen working alongside Nurse Joys in the Pokemon Center, demonstrating their loving nature.

In terms of gameplay, Blissey is a favorite among Pokemon players, both for its battle utility and its adorable design. As a recent addition to Pokemon Unite, plenty of players are now seeking information about this angelic-looking creature that's an absolute tank in battle. Here are a few things players might be surprised to learn.

8 Blissey Is Larger Than Some Might Think

In the anime, Blissey is often depicted shorter than most humans, including Ash, who is around 4'7" tall. Blissey is, in fact, 4'11" tall and weighs about 105 pounds — a bit smaller than a small adult human.

With her dainty design, some fans might imagine her smaller, even without seeing her anime portrayal. Yet despite her undeniable cuteness, Blissey is actually built like a tank. As fans will learn below, this is actually quite fitting, considering Blissey's stats.

7 In Alola, They Work As Nurse's Helpers

Though Chansey is more often seen working at Pokemon Centers in the anime, Blissey is the most common nurse's helper in the Alola region. Since this Pokemon shares its pre-evolved form's natural urge to help others, it's little wonder that so many Nurse Joys love to have them around as assistants — along with Comfey, who also helps out around Alolan Pokemon Centers.

This isn't the only case in which nurse's assistants vary by region. In Unova, Audino are commonly seen aiding Pokemon in need, while Wigglytuff aid Nurse Joys in Kalos.

6 She's Soft & Fluffy

Several Pokemon, particularly those based on real-world animals, feature designs that clearly show off their fur. Blissey, on the other hand, doesn't look particularly fuzzy — but she's as soft and huggable as a favorite teddy bear.

According to its Pokedex entries in Generation III, Blissey uses its fur to sense feelings of sadness in others, and will immediately rush to comfort them. This empathetic nature is part of what makes this Pokemon such a great companion for nurses.

5 Blissey's Line's Signature Move

Soft-Boiled_VIII

Only learnable by Blissey and its pre-evolved forms, the move Soft-Boiled is one of the franchise's best healing moves. It restores the user's HP by up to half of its maximum HP. For example, if Blissey's max HP is 100, Soft-Boiled will restore up to 50 HP.

In Generations I through VI, players could also use this move outside of battle to transfer 20% of the user's HP to another Pokemon in the party. Unfortunately, this functionality is no longer available as of Pokemon Sun & Moon.

4 Her Egg Brings Happiness To Those Who Eat It

When a Blissey senses sadness in others, she may offer them the egg in the pouch on her belly. Taking a single bite of this egg will bring someone a sense of joy and serenity. Furthermore, Soft-Boiled suggests that the egg also has healing properties, as this move uses an egg to restore HP.

For these reasons, the eggs that Blissey lays are considered delicacies throughout all regions of the Pokemon world. Blissey's Pokedex entries in Generation VII state that these eggs fetch high prices on any market.

3 Holding A Luck Incense Can Change Its Breeding Results

Some Pokemon, when bred without any special held items, produce an egg containing the second evolution in their line rather than the first. Blissey is one such Pokemon. If the player puts her in the Pokemon Daycare without a Luck Incense in hand, any Egg they receive from their Blissey will hatch into Chansey.

In order to receive a Happiny, the first in Blissey's line, players must give their Blissey a Luck Incense. Only by holding this item will Blissey produce a Happiny egg.

2 It Can Learn Some Surprising Moves

Judging by Blissey's appearance and in-game description, many players might not think of her as a particularly offensive Pokemon. And while it's true that her attack stats aren't the best Blissey is capable of using powerful moves such as Fire Blast, Blizzard, and even Iron Tail (despite not having a tail). Though she's more commonly associated with healing, these attacks ensure that she can hold her own when Trainers bring her out in a battle.

Since Blissey's base Physical Attack is dismal, it's best to teach her special moves instead. If players train their Blissey right, these Special Attacks can do a lot of damage — especially for a Pokemon that's supposedly so gentle.

1 She Has The Highest Base HP Of All Pokemon

No matter the generation in question, no Pokemon can beat Blissey when it comes to HP. Combined with her healing moves and decent defensive stats, this makes it incredibly difficult to take down Blissey in battle.

This makes Blissey a fantastic addition to any Trainer's team, especially when going up against opponents whose Pokemon hit hard. She's a great choice to swap in when players need to heal up their other Pokemon, since she can tank a lot of hits and stay standing. This makes Blissey a favorite choice among players attempting challenge runs such as Nuzlockes.
