Catch 'Pokemon Black 2' & 'Pokemon White 2' This Fall

Pokemon Black and White 2 Release Date

It was revealed this weekend that sequels to Pokemon Black and White would be coming to the Nintendo DS instead of the much-rumored Pokemon Gray. While some may be upset that neither of these games are being designed for the newer and more powerful Nintendo 3DS, nor will they feature any sort of added benefit to playing them on the portable, there's no denying that this is an exciting new step for those who adore and appreciate Pokemon.

The most disappointing part of the big announcement wasn't the DS-exclusivity, instead, the official announcement only left English-speaking fans left wondering when Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 would be coming to North America. Japan was confirmed to get both games later this June, but other territories often get the short end of the stick when it comes to the localization process. Fortunately, the release gaps between the Japanese and North American releases Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 won't be too bad — that's not to say that it won't be a significant wait though.

Both titles, as you've probably already read in the title of this article, will be launching this Fall in North America. Specifics are a little thin pertaining to which month in Fall these pair of games will be launching, but that info will probably surface soon... after both games are already available in Japan.

Nintendo of America did confirm that the cover Pokemon for the upcoming games are indeed different forms of Kyurem though, which is shocking for everyone who has the intellect of a dead marsupial. They went one step further though by confirming that we can call these two new forms of the legendary Pokemon Black Kyurem and White Kyurem. So... yeah, that's pretty awesome.

A Fall release sets the game up perfectly to sell gangbusters for the Holiday season. I'm going to go ahead and buy it before Santa has the chance to shove it in my stocking, obviously, but it's going to be pretty weird for kids who are unwrapping a brand new Wii U, followed by a couple of games for a handheld system that should have become obsolete a year ago.
