A Pokemon fan has taken to Reddit and shown off their impressive interpretation of what Beedrill and Torterra would look like combined. This Beedrill/Torterra fusion sprite animation is the creation of u/Scrapigator and it looks just like it was designed by the original artists for the Pokemon franchise.

The Pokemon franchise has been around for decades with new Pokemon being added with each generation. At the moment, the franchise has reached its eighth generation and nearly 900 individual creatures of numerous types. With so many designs fans have often turned to combining two different types of Pokemon to create a fusion.

This new fusion combines the 15th ever Pokemon, Beedrill, with the final evolution for one of the fourth generation's starters, Torterra. This animation takes the body of the latter and adds some of the more recognizable features of the former. It adds a beehive to the iconic tree on Torterra's shell, adds a Beedrill-reminiscent head on Torterra's body, and sticks in some honey and black and yellow stripes as well to complete the fusion. Comments on the reddit post are undecided as to what the name of this new Pokemon would be but BeeTerra and TorDrill are among Reddit favorites at the moment.

This sprite animation combines a bug/poison type with Torterra, who is a grass and ground type. Depending on the combination of types, u/Scrapigator's creation is going to have to watch out for water types as well as fire type Pokemon. The only question is whether or not this new creation can take on all four types or if it must choose just two. For now though, it lives outside of cannon and just on the Pokemon subreddit.

With nearly 900 creatures and designs now, there are nearly limitless combinations for fans to try for themselves. This one is a solid choice as Beedrill has been in the series since the beginning of the franchise and Torterra, as the last evolution of starter Turtwig, is memorable in its own right. Combinations such as this one show how successful the Pokemon franchise has been because it combines decades-old design and still is recognizable.

It could also show that the latest designs of Pokemon haven't quite won over the fanbase as much as the earlier ones did. It might be that u/Scrapigator turned back the clock for their design because the later generations don't have the same appeal. But it is also just as likely that these Pokemon just happened to be more memorable for them. Either way the sprite animation is a great design combination that Pokemon fans should be delighted with.
