Pokemon fans who prefer the Switch, their mobile devices, or the big screen may all be in for a treat this coming summer. A new animated Pokemon film, Mewtwo Strikes Back: Evolution, is slated for a Japanese release on July 12 and rumors have been circulating that both Pokemon GO and Pokemon Let's Go have plans to celebrate the premiere.

Although no official Pokemon GO crossovers have been confirmed yet, The Pokemon Company has revealed that those who purchase tickets in advance for Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution will get Mewtwo for Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu & Eevee. The bonus Mewtwo will have a CP of 10,000 in Let’s Go. Despite the lack of any official announcements, recent game code has led the Pokemon GO community to believe that an armored Mewtwo form is coming to the mobile game.

Armored Mewtwo has been a rumored part of the upcoming movie for months, so it's no surprise that fans are expecting the new form to arrive in the existing games this summer, as well. The latest trailer for Mewtwo Strikes Back has reignited these theories by putting the armored form in the spotlight once again...

At this point, there is still no official confirmation about when or if armored Mewtwo is going to arrive in Pokemon GO. That said, the recently datamined code combined with the knowledge of the film's release does seem to hint at an impending arrival. It would be smart of The Pokemon Company to use the movie as another form of cross-promotion, so don't be surprised if earning an armored Mewtwo encounter involves some type of purchase related to the film. With that in mind, it will be interesting to see any promotions are worldwide or limited to just areas where the film is showing.

Be sure to check back in the coming weeks for more Pokemon news, updates, and strategy guides. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
