Nintendo has announced plans to release not one, but two new Pokemon games for the Nintendo 3DS. The titles themselves aren't tangible retail products, similar to the ones that fans have been asking for on the 3DS, but they should help tide fans over while Game Freak chips away on that task.

One of the games is none other than an updated version to the currently available Pokedex 3D app called Pokedex 3D Pro. The other game, Pokemon AR Searcher, is a little different though, and it'll allow wannabe trainers to catch Pokemon in the real world through the use of the 3DS' AR functionality.

Pokedex 3D Pro will feature a medley of enhancements, most notably the addition of older Pokemon such as Bulbasaur, Pikachu, Piplup, and Chimchar. It'll also be home to the new cover stars of the impending Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 versions, Black Kyurem and White Kyurem. The updated app is said to be replacing the currently free one on the eShop, and will cost a whopping 1,500 Yen ($18.38). This price will likely be lowered substantially whenever it makes its way over to North American shores later this year, but we can't help but feel sorry for the Pokemon-loving residents of Japan.

Pokemon AR Searcher, on the other hand, will offer up an entirely different experience than that of the previously mention Pocket Monster title. Look forward to being able to live out your dream of catching Pokemon in the real world, courtesy of the AR functionality built right into the 3DS. The best part of this downloadable game however, isn't just catching the Pokemon, but being able to transfer them into your copy of Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2. This 3DS-exclusive game finally gives 3DS owners a reason to play the games on that system. It'll launch on the Japanese eShop on June 23 for 300 Yen ($3.68).

There's no word on when these Poke-tastic titles will be making their way over to our side of the globe, but it's a safe assumption to assume they'll be landing around the same time that Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 release this Fall. The ability to import captured monsters from Pokemon AR Searcher is also a great incentive to play the games on 3DS — which should help kill some of the current controversy surrounding Black 2 and White 2.
