Ash Ketchum, the popular trainer from the Pokemon anime series, has finally been crowned World Champion in the latest episode of Pokemon Ultimate Journeys: The Series. This victory brought an end to a 25-year-long mission to become the best Pokemon trainer and marked an important milestone in the history of the Pokemon anime.

The eternal 10-year-old boy began his quest to become the very best Pokemon trainer in 1997 when the first episode of the Pokemon anime aired in Japan. In the latest season of the Pokemon anime, Ash explored the Galar region of Pokemon Sword and Shield. He managed to climb the ranks of the World Coronation Series, a global event featuring the best trainers from across the world. The final battle to win the title of Pokemon World Champion saw Ash battle against Pokemon Sword and Shield’s Leon. The two fought an intense battle, resulting in both having a single Pokemon left standing. As Ash’s Pikachu faced Leon’s Charizard, the strength of their attacks awaken legendary Pokemon Eternatus. Ash and his Pikachu managed to defeat both the legendary Pokemon and Leon, earning the title of Pokemon World Champion.

This victory fulfills Ash’s long-awaited dream of becoming the best Pokemon trainer in the world. However, this doesn’t mark the end of Ash’s journey in the Pokemon anime. Pokemon Ultimate Journeys: The Series still has three episodes to air before the end of the season. The next episode of the Pokemon anime, titled “Project Mew,” will air on November 25 in Japan. The date of its worldwide diffusion hasn’t yet been announced. The Pokemon Company hasn’t shared details about a possible 26th season that could bring Ash and his friends to Paldea, the new region of the upcoming Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Pokemon Ultimate Journeys: The Series is available to stream on Netflix in the U.S.
