Trophy hunting provides players with another way to approach games on the PlayStation platform. In some cases, it transforms those who do not care about getting 100% into completionists, pushing them to get more out of their games and see all there is to see. In other cases, it makes gamers more competitive, pushing them to outdo their friends and obtain more Trophies in certain games. However, Trophy hunting on PlayStation can also result in some wildly entertaining moments due to strange objectives.

Not every Trophy list on PlayStation features zany achievements, though the ones that do will often stick with players long after all the game’s tasks have been completed. While September 2022’s Trophy lists were relatively straightforward, there were a few unique Trophies that pushed players to find Easter eggs or complete an easily missable task.

Two of the three Essential PlayStation Plus games offered straightforward Trophy lists. In terms of oddities, Granblue Fantasy Versus has none to report, as the list asks players to perform certain maneuvers or progress through the various game modes. As far as Need For Speed Heat is concerned, this entry in the longrunning Need for Speed franchise also had no particularly odd Trophies - even if “Get Shrimpin” asking players to gather collectible flamingos is a bit random. After all, these aren’t the collectibles one would expect to see in a driving game.

However, Toem manages to provide many standout objectives, resulting in a lineup of Trophies that is easy and fun. As players spend the eight hours required to snag the Platinum, they will be asked to unlock “Slow and Steady.” This funny achievement sees players watching a snail race at a certain point in the game, and they need to sit patiently as it slowly crawls toward the finish line. While this would normally take a few minutes, players can honk their horn at the slow-moving animal to speed up the process.

Easter eggs that feature developers appear from time to time in games, with Gearbox’s Brighthoof room from Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands being one example. Toem ties two of these secrets to achievements, as “You Found Us” allows players to see the team being the game and “Look at Those Cuties” sees gamers stumbling upon the developers’ pets. Though these secrets make for some random Trophy objectives, they are quite wholesome as well.

Funniest Trophies in September 2022’s New Releases

The Last of Us Part 1’s Trophy list has been praised by fans for not forcing multiple playthroughs like the original version of the game did. It also features some standout Trophies such as “Left Hanging.” This Trophy sees players needing to ignore Ellie’s request for a high five, which is pretty brutal given that players have likely grown to love the character throughout their playthrough. Though it is funny, asking players to be cruel to one of the two leads is an odd task, especially since another Trophy rewards gamers for being kind and petting a dog.

Naughty Dog’s history of excellent games is well documented, with many gamers likely thinking the developer has a perfect track record. However, the studio clearly thinks otherwise, as it includes a Trophy called “Nobody’s Perfect” for playing some Jak X during the Left Behind DLC. Jak X Combat Racing was certainly an odd game for Naughty Dog, and though it did not get awful reviews by any means, the scores were lower than usual for a Naughty Dog project. Overall, this Trophy is hilarious, as it is more than a bit weird to see a developer taking shots at its past work.

Lastly, it is worth mentioning the new dating sim Kaichu, as virtually any Trophy from the game can be described as odd. This is because Kaichu is a dating simulator starring Kaiju, with Trophies like “Spread The Love” rewarding gamers who successfully date three Kaiju like Mechachu and Turpio. Much like Hooked on You: a Dead by Daylight Dating Sim, Kaichu is an interesting spoof on the genre with some equally intriguing PlayStation Trophies to match.
