PlayStation keeps a pretty consistent rotation of deals in its online store, giving buyers plenty of chances to get some discounted games. In the latest promotion, PlayStation is putting many beloved retro games and remasters on sale.

Generally, every month sees a new major deal or promotion, that groups together a bunch of games at a lower price, usually in relation to some greater theme or idea. For example, PlayStation just wrapped up its Halloween sale, that naturally brought discounts to many horrorifying games like Doom Eternal Deluxe Edition, the Diablo Prime Evil Collection, and this year's Resident Evil Village. One of the disappointing aspects of this sale, though, are the lack of PS5 games being offered. Sure, predominantly every discounted game can be played thorugh backwards compatability on the PS5, but using the Halloween sale as an example, only Doom and Diablo were the only PS5 discounts.

The "Remasters and Retro!" sale includes 134 games, with some games being upwards of 85% off, and runs until November 17. The Digitial Deluxe Edition of the Shin Megami Tensei 3 Nocturne HD Remaster is 40% off at $41.99, which includes the Maniax Pack that puts Dante from Devil May Cry in the game, as well as the Mercy and Expectation Map Pack and the BGM Pack. Also here (strangely) is NEO: The World Ends with You at 30% off, this year's sequel to the original DS game, The World Ends With You. There is only one PS5 game on sale this time around, it being Saints Row: The Third Remastered, which is 65% off at $13.99 and includes both a PS4 and PS5 copy.

This is not the first time that PlayStation has run the "Remasters and Retro!" sale, it popping up every couple of months or so. With that in mind, there are many games that are on sale once more, including The Last of Us Remastered, the Shadow of the Colossus remake, and Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, each at 50% off for $9.99. Some games from that last sale are noticeably absent, like the PS2 Grand Theft Auto trilogy, the ports of classic Assassin's Creed games, and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game.

While there are certainly some solid discounts this time around, this sale continues to highlight a problem with PlayStation's discount model. For starters, PS5 users are once again getting the short end of the stick, with only one game being discounted for them—this would have been a perfect opportunity to do a slight price cut on the Demon's Souls remake, or Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered. Furthermore, Sony's legacy titles like The Last of Us, Uncharted, and others seem like they are constantly on sale which makes one wonder why it just doesn't lower the price permanently. PlayStation fans should check out this sale, but they might not find too many incredible new deals.
