Last week, Sony confirmed its next State of Play event for this upcoming Thursday, June 2. Many were a little disheartened when it confirmed that there would be no first-party titles, like God of War: Ragnarok, but there will still be plenty to see. Namely, the State of Play event will focus on third-party titles, as well as new details and games for PS VR2.

Many still have high hopes for the presentation, with Final Fantasy 16 being one of the biggest hopes for the State of Play event. However, the truth is no one outside Sony and the parties involved knows what will be there. No reliable or known insider or leaker has said what will or won’t be there, but that hasn’t stopped the internet from running away with "leaks."

Across several social media sites, users are sharing what are fake listings for the State of Play event. Some are just a simple list of games, while the more complicated ones (as seen below) are categorizing and “revealing" time stamps for them. The one below may be the most convincing of a variety of fake leaks being spread, as it seemingly relies on confirmed third-party games and obvious trailers (like Stray), but suggesting Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be a PS VR2 title is a dead give away.

Some of these leaks are clearly not even trying to be taken as real, with one saying “God of War 4: Athena’s Revenge,” “Bloodborne PS VR2 Edition,” and “Final Fantasy 17” would be there. The unbelievable ones are funny enough and good for a quick laugh, but some are trying to pass themselves off as legitimate Sony leaks, which can be harmful should anyone believe them.

As it stands, almost no reliable leaks about the upcoming State of Play have been shared, and while it’s not impossible for one or two games to leak ahead of time (Street Fighter 6 is speculated to be at the State of Play), the entire presentation leaking is a different story. Fans should be wary of these fake leaks and take them all with a huge grain of salt, properly managing their expectations in the meantime.

After all, next month is going to be big for PlayStation fans no matter what. The PS Plus free games did have a potentially legitimate leak, seemingly revealing a solid lineup. They will be confirmed on June 1, the State of Play takes place June 2, and PS Plus premium releases June 13. That’s not counting any potential surprises from Sony, the hype of which no fake leak can truly replicate.
