News about the PlayStation 5 has not been readily available since its reveal. While technical details such as Ray Tracing ability and Haptic Feedback have been discussed, more pertinent details remain nonexistant. Some PS5 games have pages on the PlayStation website now, but there is still not much to go on.

Obviously players are hungry for more details on the PS5, but in this case, it has to do with a bit more than new console hype. It is currently possible for players to submit a registration to be pre-order the PS5 first. This is somewhat bizarre since the price for the PS5 is still not available. Essentially, players are registering for the opportunity to pre-order a console that they don't know everything about yet, but especially don't know how much the pre-order will cost them.

While the wait has been somewhat alleviated by possible PS5 price leaks, players are still demanding the actual price be announced. This has been especially big on social media, even into Sony's most recent announcements. Sony told fans beforehand that these would not include news about the PS5, but that didn't stop many players from waiting eagerly and tweeting frequently for and about PS5 news. Eventually, Sony's Twitter responded with a short clip from Ghost of Tsushima, showing its protagonist in a bath and urging players to "relax and reflect."

The response to the tweet was anything but relaxed. Players continued to demand news about the PS5, with many jokes being made about the tweet. Some think that Sony and Microsoft are actually playing chicken with next-gen console prices, waiting for the other to announce a price so there is something to compare its own console's price to. Of course, this would mean a price adjustment for the second announcer would almost be a given.

While this may make sense from a corporate perspective, it is only making players antsier. The lack of PS5 pricing means players would be throwing their hat into the pre-order "auditions" blind. So if a player gets selected for a pre-order, then learns the price is too high, they would have to back out, leading to an empty pre-order space. All of this means that the number of players getting a PS5 could wind up being very limited.

Information about the possible lack of PS5 backward compatibility was removed from the Ubisoft website, which suggested the PS5 may not be backward compatible with PS3 and earlier. However, it seems unlikely that this delisting means the PS5 is backward compatible (though it may be in the future).
