PlayStation recently teased some of the big things that PS5 gamers have to look forward to in the new year, which includes major video game and hardware releases. 2022 was a strong year for video games, but it's coming to a close and many are looking ahead to what 2023 has in store.

As it stands, PlayStation has mostly kept quiet about its 2023 offerings. 2022 saw the release of major PlayStation game releases, including the critically-acclaimed God of War Ragnarok and Horizon Forbidden West, but the company has yet to reveal its full slate of games for the new year. Even so, PlayStation has teased fans with some titles they can look forward to in the early months of 2023 as well as one title that's coming a bit later.

PlayStation is kicking off 2023 with the release of Square Enix's Forspoken on January 24. An open world action-RPG, Forspoken is a PlayStation 5 console exclusive, and it should be one of the first major PS5 releases of the year. Then on February 10, PS5 gamers can look forward to Hogwarts Legacy, the highly-anticipated open world Harry Potter game. A PS4 version of Hogwarts Legacy is in the works as well, but those that have yet to upgrade to Sony's newest console will have to wait until April 4 to play it.

Later in the year, PlayStation gamers can look forward to the release of Marvel's Spider-Man 2, the highly-anticipated sequel to Insomniac's PlayStation exclusive Spider-Man game. Spider-Man 2 will see Peter Parker and Miles Morales team up, and it will also feature iconic Spider-Man anti-hero Venom in a major role. More details on what Spider-Man 2 will entail have yet to be revealed to the public, but with the game eyeing a fall 2023 release, more information should come to light sooner rather than later.

Many PS5 gamers are likely most excited about the new video games coming to the console in 2023, but others may be interested in what new hardware will be on offer. On January 26, PlayStation is releasing the new DualSense Edge controller, which is basically its answer to the Xbox Elite controller. The DualSense Edge will cost a hefty $199.99 at launch, but it features a variety of enhancements that help justify its price tag.

And finally, the PlayStation VR2 headset is launching February 22. PlayStation VR2 has an extensive launch lineup of games that seems to grow by the day, and it will be interesting to see if they live up to the hype. PlayStation gamers will find out in 2023.
