Until the PlayStation 5 is released, players will have to simply hope and wish for the alternate colors they wish to see on the console. Black is an obvious one that is likely coming eventually due to the PlayStation often already being associated with the color, but these are some other colors that would be nice to see be available for purchase outside of fan-created skins.

PlayStation 1

PSX Console

A great way to tribute and pay fanservice to gamers who've been using the PlayStation since the original would be to have a color palette based on the said original. Many fans and players are familiar with the shade of grey worn by the original PlayStation system, making it perfect to use.

To better reference the original console, this special edition of the PlayStation 5 could have a matte finish instead of the glossy finish seen in promotional material for the console. There are doubts that this special edition would be made to exactly resemble this piece of 90s technology, but many fans would quickly snap up anything calling back to the childhood console of many.

Resident Evil 8: Village

xbox series x horror games

Due to Resident Evil 8's announcement getting a lot of attention during the PlayStation 5 conference, it would be very fitting to have a special Resident Evil themed edition of the PlayStation 5.

Not much is currently known about Resident Evil 8's plot, with the trailer leaving plenty of room for speculation on what exactly happened in it. Considering the isolated forest village setting of this upcoming title, a snowy woods theme for the physical console would certainly create quite the collector's item. Similarly, incorporating the werewolves shown with having three dimensional scratch marks on the console would make it certainly stand out from other special edition consoles.

This special edition would be perfect for horror fans, Resident Evil fans, and collectors, having a lot of potential to make an incredibly gorgeous console.

Pink

PS5 Alternate Colors

Whether some gamers like it or not, pink-colored gaming hardware has been getting more and more popular in recent years. With this rise in the color of bubblegum, a pink PlayStation 5 would be sure to do well if put on the market.

A pink PS5 wouldn't be the first official pink release of a console either, with the PlayStation 2 having a limited edition pink color. Like with what was mentioned before with the colors of the original PlayStation, a pink PS5 could use the same pink used on the PS2 to reference this other limited edition console. Either way, a pink PS5 would go great in the rooms of those who collect and use pink hardware for streams and normal play.

Sackboy

Sackboy a big adventure sackboy happy

With Sackboy returning in the upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusive title Sackboy: A Big Adventure, a PS5 themed around this little sack of energy and life could make for an interesting special edition of the console.

For this idea, the PlayStation 5 could appear as if it is made of the same material that Sackboy is made out of, with Sackboy's face somewhere on one of the console's sides. While this may take away from the sleek and futuristic look that the developers wanted the console to have, it would certainly get fewer comparisons to a router by fans. It additionally would just make a charming part of gamers' collections as well as be great for gamers that play with their families.

Galaxy

Overwatch Stars

It can be said that most people find the night sky beautiful when its littered with millions of stars. Keeping this in mind, a galaxy or star field themed PlayStation 5 could make for an incredibly gorgeous looking console.

The sides of the PS5 could be decorated with gorgeous art of stars, planets, and other aspects of space to make a gorgeous scene that players can purchase as a special edition. The various elements of space could even be on different layers, providing a panoramic effect as players look at the console. It would definitely create something that many gamers would want to snatch up for aesthetics alone.

Final Fantasy 7

With the current pace of news between Final Fantasy 7's second part of its remake and the release of the PlayStation 5, it is very likely that both part one and the upcoming part two of the Final Fantasy 7 remake will be released on the console eventually. Considering this, a special edition of the console could be potentially very popular for fans and newcomers to the series if aesthetically pleasing enough.

One possibility for a Final Fantasy 7 themed PlayStation 5 could be one that has the appearance of the patterning seen on Cloud's buster sword with Materia slots to match. If developers wanted to go the extra mile, there could be something else that alludes to the handle.

Another possibility could be exclusive art of characters and locations from Final Fantasy 7 printed onto the console, creating scenes or simply new art of the characters. There could even be a possibility for the console to be themed around the original Final Fantasy 7 and using aesthetics meant to evoke nostalgia for long fans of the series.

Other than the aforementioned gold plated PS5, nobody really knows what alternate colors for the PlayStation 5 will be. Players and fans just need to keep waiting for more news or the eventual release of the console itself before players can know for sure what the expect.
