Sony may not be participating in E3 this year, but it's certainly going to make the most of the excitement surrounding the event. Introducing the 2019 Days of Play sales event, in which much of Sony's PlayStation hardware and exclusive software will be going on sale. A highlight of this year's Days of Play sale is a brand new, limited edition PlayStation 4, but much more than that is discounted. Days of Play will last from June 7 to June 17.

The highlight of Days of Play is, as mentioned, the new limited edition PS4. The console and DualShock controller feature a Steel Black design with the iconic triangle, circle, x, and square PlayStation symbols embossed on its face in silver and will retail for $299.99.

While Sony isn't ready to share exact pricing for games during the Days of Play sale, it has confirmed that major exclusives including Days Gone, God of War, Marvel's Spider-Man, and MLB The Show 19 will be discounted for the duration of the event. PlayStation Hits like The Last of Us Remastered, Uncharted 4, and Bloodborne will also be discounted, dropping to as low as $9.99 in some cases.

Those looking to buy some new PlayStation hardware should also try and wait for the start of Days of Play. Most major PlayStation hardware will be going on sale, including:

  • Jet Black 1TB PS4 Pro - $349.99
  • PlayStation VR Bundles - Starting at $249.99
  • DualShock 4 Wireless Controllers - Starting at $39.99

Sony says that there will also be deals for PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now as part of the sale, in addition to discounted PlayStation merchandise.

It's interesting to see Sony continuing to build E3 levels of excitement without actually attending E3 2019. The annual Days of Play sale will continue as normal and Sony is hyping up its upcoming PS4 exclusives, including Death Stranding, but the punch of an E3 press conference will be missing from the equation.

Of course, Sony has much to benefit from E3. There will be dozens of new multi-platform game announcements made and players will be heading to the PlayStation store to make pre-orders. The Days of Play sale will be there waiting.

Expect more information on the Days of Play sale, including pricing on individual games, as the June 7 start date approaches.
