Update: Groupon deal is now expired. We’ll update if a PS Plus deal for Black Friday shows up.
By now you probably read about Sony’s increase to $60 on your next PlayStation plus membership. Well, the new price goes into effect September 22, so you still have a little bit of time to grab the 12-month membership cheaper at the usual $50. In fact if you know where to look, there’s even a 25% off discount available as of writing.
- PlayStation Plus 12-Month Card: $37.49
- Use Code: FIRST
- New accounts only
- Won’t ship to AK/HI/PR
Today, Groupon has a coupon code promotion slashing the price to $37.49. The coupon code is only valid for new users, but we don’t see why you can’t just make a new account to get the discount (confirmed to work). You may need to enter in a new shipping address, but in some cases you won’t have to fiddle with that – particularly if you’re an old returning user.
Also related, there’s even a better code out there but your mileage may vary. Select existing Groupon accounts can use code SAVE30 for 30% off. That’s $15 in savings dropping the price to $34.99. Again, this coupon only works for select accounts and is not universal (may be worth a try though if you already have a Groupon account).
This discount on a PlayStation plus membership comes at a good time and turns out to be one of the best price break of the year. Prior to this deal, the best discount on PlayStation Plus was $35.99. Now after coupon you’re within two bucks of the lowest price point.
Note that these are physical card so you’ll have to wait for Groupon to ship the PS Plus membership to you (ships within 2 days). While the deal is available for almost everyone in the United States, if you reside in Alaska, Hawaii, or Puerto Rico you are unfortunately out of luck. Sales tax limited to select states where Groupon location resides. Groupon won’t exactly have an infinite supply of these PlayStation Plus 1-Year membership card, so if you’re planning to renew after September 22nd, now would be a good time to pick one up.
