[UPDATE: Sony Interactive Entertainment has officially revealed PlayStation Plus' May 2019 free games. The original story continues below.]

Ahead of an anticipated official announcement, the free PlayStation Plus games for May 2019 may have leaked via the PlayStation user interface. By checking the PlayStation Plus section of the console, players discovered what two games the EU would at least be receiving, which could likely be the same for the Americas. However, it is worth mentioning that the PlayStation Plus free games for Asia differ from this reveal, but every region usually receives something different, though sometimes they do overlap.

This EU leak reveals that What Remains of Edith Finch and the original Overcooked are taking the spotlight for May 2019. These PlayStation Plus May 2019 free titles are solid additions to the subscription service, with the former sitting at 88% on Metacritic and the latter 78%. Those who haven't played one or the other are likely in for a treat as a result.

Concerning What Remains of Edith Finch, we ranked it as one of the best Indie games of 2017. It sees players adventure throughout the home of the Finches, with the house having tons of mysteries to unravel. A major element of this title is how emotional it becomes as players explore each member of the family. Overcooked, on the other hand, is a cutesy cooking simulation game that sees players whip up specific orders within a certain time frame. It had a solid reception that likely helped with the sequel release of Overcooked 2.

Nevertheless, seeing as Sony has yet to officially comment on these PlayStation Plus titles, it's best taken with a grain of salt, as these games could prove to be exclusive to particular regions. Confirmation is expected to drop later today, so we will see then if Sony has something different planned for the Americas.

The popularity of the PlayStation Plus subscription services cannot be understated, as receiving free games every month is certainly a strong incentive to subscribe. Because of its popularity, there has been a rumor floating around that the PS5 will receive a PS Plus Premium service, which alongside the standard array, grants alpha and beta access and the ability to create private servers.
