While many players are certain to be looking forward to seeing a bevy of new games revealed at E3 2019 next month, Sony continues to give fans a reason to return to older titles with its monthly PlayStation Plus free game offerings. While this month's PS Plus free games did not sit extremely well with a portion of the playerbase, the PlayStation Plus June 2019 free games may turn things around indeed.

Specifically, the PS Plus June 2019 free games are Borderlands: The Handsome Collection and Sonic Mania. As always, the June 2019 PlayStation Plus games will be free to those with PS Plus subscriptions, and players can expect them to arrive next Tuesday, June 4.

With the Borderlands 3 release date fast approaching, many players will certainly appreciate gaining free access to Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, which consists of Borderlands 2Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, and all of the DLC for both games. Indeed, this is a great opportunity for players that have never played a game from Gearbox's acclaimed looter shooter franchise to do so in preface of the release of Borderlands 3.

Moreover, it is rumored that new Borderlands 2 DLC will be released during E3 2019. It is said that this new DLC for Borderlands 2 will "bridge the gap between the end of Borderlands 2 and the beginning of Borderlands 3," and players that want to return to the game to play this new content can now set themselves up to do so without paying for the base game, thanks to the June 2019 PS Plus free games.

With respect to Sonic Mania, this 2017 platformer is a side-scrolling throwback to the classic Sonic the Hedgehog games, and it was received well upon release, with some considering it a "return to form" for Sega. For those that may be interested in trying the game, but have shied away from paying for it, the PlayStation Plus free games for June 2019 have these fans covered.

As previously mentioned, some players were not happy about the PlayStation Plus May 2019 free games, and the announcement trailer received a disproportionate number of dislikes. While the PS Plus free games for June 2019 may appear more desirable at first blush, only time will tell how the playerbase receives them.
