With September just around the corner, Sony revealed the upcoming free games as part of their PlayStation Plus offerings that will be available next week. While the list of six games stretches across the usual three pieces of Sony hardware, PlayStation 4 owners are set to receive a couple of big AAA titles, with one of them releasing today for free.

The list of upcoming free PS Plus games comes from the PlayStation Blog, including 2017's Destiny 2 from Bungie, and God of War 3: Remastered from Santa Monica Studios. Of course, Destiny 2 is the game to make note of, given the next expansion for the game, Forsaken, launches on September 4th. However, PS Plus members don't have to wait until next week to jump into the world of Destiny, with Sony making the game available to download immediately following the announcement.

With PS4's other free game, God of War 3: Remastered brought the third entry in the God of War franchise to the PlayStation 4 back in 2015. While the newest God of War differs vastly from its predecessors in terms of gameplay and story (read our review here), the earlier games in the franchise caught the attention of many with its hack-and-slash gameplay and Greek mythology setting.

As far as PlayStation 3's free games are concerned, Another World: 20th Anniversary Edition and QUBE Director's Cut will be coming to the system. Another World: 20th Anniversary Edition is a remastered version of the 1991 critically acclaimed story-driven platformer, while QUBE Director's Cut is a first-person puzzle game. Both games are also playable on PS4 through PlayStation's cross-buy option.

Finally, the PlayStation Vita will have both Sparkle 2 and Foul Play available for free come September. Sparkle 2 is a simple top-down puzzle game offering nearly 100 playable levels, while Foul Play is a side-scrolling brawler with the option for co-op play with friends. Just like the PlayStation 3's free games, both are playable on the PS4 via cross-buy. The decision to release cross-buy enabled titles to the PS3 and Vita shows Sony's continued decline in support for their older systems, given that come next March they will no longer receive free PS Plus games.

Destiny 2 is, of course, the headlining game for this month, especially considering it's available to play while August's free PS Plus games, Mafia III and Dead by Daylight, are still available for another week. Currently players also have access to a 24-hour trial of Destiny 2's newest mode, Gambit, which combines PvP and PvE elements in a competitive multiplayer mode, and allows players to get a glimpse at what's to come when the newest adventures from Destiny 2 arrive soon.

Destiny 2 is available for free right now on PlayStation 4.
