Several weeks ago, Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) reported finances revealing that 2018 saw a record number of people joining its online subscription service PlayStation Plus, with there now being over a third of PS4 owners having signed up as members. One of the incentives of joining PS Plus is its offering of free monthly games, and SIE has now unveiled the titles that members will be able to acquire at no additional cost for the month of March.

Two fresh titles will be joining the PlayStation Plus free game lineup soon, and both of them will offer vastly different gameplay experiences, with Activision's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered and Thekla Inc.'s The Witness becoming available to download from March 5, 2019 to April 1, 2019. The former is an HD update to the 2007 first-person shooter classic, while the latter is a first-person puzzler.

While PlayStation Plus subscribers wait for the arrival of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered and The Witness as free downloads for next month, those who haven't already jumped on February's free games should do so before they go back to full price. There are quite a few titles up for grabs at the moment, with IO Interactive's 2016 take on Hitman and Ubisoft's For Honor being available for PS4 through March 4, while PS3's Divekick and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and PS Vita's Gunhouse and Rogue Aces are available through March 8.

For those unaware, Sony Interactive Entertainment will no longer be offering any PS3 and PS Vita games as a part of the monthly free games line-up for PlayStation Plus, and will only be providing titles for the PS4. Although PS3 and PS Vita games won't be given as part of the monthly rotation anymore, any claimed titles will still be available to members that have downloaded them previously.

All things considered, it's interesting to see that Sony has now effectively reduced the number of games it's offering as free monthly titles for PlayStation Plus subscribers now that it's shifted focus onto giving PS4 games only. With this being the case, one can only hope that the titles provided from here on out are ones that the vast majority of PlayStation Plus members actually want.
