Without a doubt, Sony Interactive Entertainment has remained dominant when it comes to sales during this generation of hardware, as the PlayStation 4 recently managed to surpass 82 million units, which puts it close to beating out the total lifetime sales of its predecessor in the PS3. Now, in order to keep the good times rolling, Sony is offering a solid selection of titles as free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers during the month of August 2018.

As seen in the trailer below for PlayStation Plus' free games for August 2018, the two major headliners are Hangar 13's action-adventure title, Mafia 3, and Behavior Digital's asymmetrical multiplayer survival horror release, Dead by Daylight. These two games will be available at no additional cost to active PS Plus subscribers, as the titles can be downloaded for free on PlayStation 4 consoles starting on Tuesday, August 7, 2018.

As usual, each month of free games for PlayStation Plus also brings with it a handful of other noteworthy titles that act as a supporting cast of sorts for the Triple-A headliners, and August 2018 is no different. This month, PS Plus subscribers can also get access to role-playing game Bound by Flame and the shooter Serious Sam 3: BFE on PS3, while PlayStation Vita owners can download the touchscreen-controlled action game Draw Slasher and the Warhammer 40,000 title Space Hulk.

What's more is that those who have a PlayStation VR headset and a PS Plus subscription will be able to play Here They Lie, which happens to be a virtual reality horror experience from the developer known as Tangentlemen. Additionally, the trivia game Knowledge is Power is also free this month, with the title requiring players to use a mobile device and Sony’s PlayLink app to experience it.

All things considered, it's safe to say that plenty of PlayStation Plus subscribers will be content with the free offerings for August 2018, and will be making space on their hard drives to give them a go. And of course, those who haven't acquired the games for July 2018 need to act fast, as they will go back to full price soon.
