[UPDATE: Sony has revealed its PlayStation Plus free games for July 2020, including a bonus third game. Check it out here. Original story follows.]

On June 29, 2020, Sony's PlayStation Plus subscription service will be 10-years-old. This began all the way back in the PS3 days, although it was completely different back then. For example, it was optional and mostly gave away free themes and PlayStation Minis. It eventually began distributing free games every month and became mandatory to play online, and that's all she wrote.

PS Plus is incredibly popular, far more so now than in its early days. Still, it's worth remembering that, for its 5-year anniversary, Sony did have a little giveaway. For those who had been members/subscribers from the very start, Sony eventually sent out a plaque that detailed some of the user's gaming history on it. It's a beautiful memento, but at the same time, it took months for fans to receive theirs.

As such, it's a reasonable expectation that there will be yet another give away for PS Plus subscribers. It is not likely to be another plaque after the number of gamers who have joined PS Plus since then, and that's not to mention the shipping concerns now amid the coronavirus pandemic. It's unlikely to go without some celebration, however, as the aforementioned 5-year anniversary was not announced until the day of. In other words, it's not concerning that something hasn't been revealed yet.

What that is remains to be seen, but it seems like a safe bet that something will said and given to players. This could be as simple as announcing the official PS Plus free games for July 2020 with some special bonus or third game, as many believe PS Plus should include more VR games, and that's traditionally what special additions are. It could be some changes to the PS Plus line-up coming down the road, or it may even explain how PS Plus will work as players move to PS5 later this fall. There could be a sale (although PS Plus recently dropped in price), a special theme, or any other number of gifts for subscribers to enjoy, and that are easier on the company that special plaques.

Nonetheless, the wait won't be long. PS Plus officially turns 10 tomorrow, so fans don't have to wait long to see what is up Sony's sleeves.

PS Plus subscribers get two free games every month.
