This month's free PlayStation Plus games have caused a lot of controversy over the past few weeks, with many fans taking to PlayStation's official social media accounts to show their dissatisfaction with the games chosen to headline this month's free games lineup. Those games are Paradox Interactive's city-building simulation game Cities: Skylines and Farming Simulator 19. Thankfully, Sony may have found a way to hold fans over until June's lineup is announced, as the company is currently emailing select PlayStation Plus subscribers two free months of Funimation Now Premium memberships.

The move comes after this disastrous response to May 2020's free games, coming off of April 2020's excellent lineup of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and DiRT Rally 2.0, players were dissatisfied with the two simulation games chosen for this month's lineup as opposed to the more diverse lineups of months prior. This even led some fans to create a petition to have the games changed, which even managed to garner over 65,000 signatures.

While it is still unknown what the requirements are to receive these 2 free months of Funimation Premium, this is a great move from Sony as it allows fans of both PlayStation and anime to enjoy tons of shows such as Dragon Ball Z, One Piece, My Hero Academia, Black Clover and Cowboy Bebop, many of which also have video game tie-ins available on PlayStation 4. It is worth also mentioning that Sony also owns Funimation, meaning more deals like this are likely to happen in the future.

PlayStation Plus subscribers will also be happy to learn that Sony is also giving away 50% off PlayStation Hits titles to users signing up for the subscription service or Sony's other PlayStation subscription-based service, PlayStation Now. These titles include the likes of God of War, The Last of Us Remastered and Bloodborne. Sony has also announced that its Days of Play sale will be returning next month, with PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now subscriptions also be discounted by 30% for 12 months each. It is unknown if this Funimation deal will be ongoing during the Days of Play sale, although if so, it would be an excellent deal to pull in anime and PlayStation fans.

While it is unknown what the titles for next month's PlayStation Plus free games lineup will be, Sony usually announces the new titles during the last week of the previous month, meaning we are likely only a few days out from discovering what June 2020's titles will be.

Cities Skylines and Farming Simulator are currently free on PlayStation Plus.
