PlayStation's PS5 event included a number of bombshell revelations, offering players a glimpse at major upcoming games, like Spider-Man Miles Moralesand a number of other massive pieces of news, including the PS5's price. However, the company saved one of the other major announcements for the end of the show.

The PlayStation Plus Collection is a new feature coming to PS5 for PS Plus subscribers, offering users a wide variety of games to download included with the cost of the subscription. Sony claims that these are "generation-defining" games, and judging by the included list, that seems to be the case.

Titles like God of War, Uncharted 4, Detroit: Become Human, and many more make an appearance in the trailer for the service, which seems to be something similar to Xbox's Game Pass. It is worth noting, however, that many of Sony's newer exclusives aren't included in the list, like The Last of Us 2 and Ghost of Tsushima, whereas Game Pass includes new exclusives on day one.

The difference between the two services is pretty drastic, then, so it isn't clear if Sony's intent is to compete with Game Pass on a broad level, or if it's merely an incentive to draw in more pre-orders for the PS5. It's also unclear if the collection will be updated over time to include other games, growing a library that fans have access to simply by merit of subscribing to PS Plus.

Still, this is a major perk for subscribers, offering those that skipped the PS4 a chance at playing through some of its greatest hits when the PS5 launches. Even those that missed out on some of the current generation's bigger games have something to look forward to, and with the increased power of the PS4 over the PS5, those gamers may very well be getting the definitive version of each game.

PS5 pre-orders are set to go live tomorrow, with the standard and digital-only versions costing $499 and $399 respectively. With the November 12 launch date just a few months away, fans don't have too long to wait before they get to dive into next-gen gameplay, and with the PlayStation Plus Collection now being a thing, even those that pass on launch games will have something to play right out of the gate, which is traditionally one of the biggest problems new consoles have to overcome. Luckily, Sony seems to have found a solution for the issue.

The PlayStation Plus Collection launches with the PS5 on November 12.
