In June 2010, PlayStation's premium online service known as PlayStation Plus launched to the public on the PlayStation 3. In the 10 years since, the service has seen multiple improvements and added benefits, such as games being made available for free every month. In celebration of this anniversary, it seems like PlayStation is now sending subscribers a $10 credit to their accounts as a small thank you.
Besides having the ability to play online with friends, the biggest benefit of having PlayStation Plus all of these years has been the huge roster of games that players have been able to receive free of charge every month. These games have ranged from titles like Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection to other similarly large AAA titles like Rise of the Tomb Raider and NBA 2K20.
Information about this new credit started spreading on Twitter following multiple users sharing a message they received from PlayStation saying, "To celebrate 10 years of PlayStation Plus, we've added $10.00 PlayStation Store credit to your account. Thank you for choosing PlayStation Plus." This credit comes at a very convenient time as the PlayStation Store Summer Sale just launched yesterday.
One would assume that the response to this gesture would be met with players thanking PlayStation and sharing their favorite memories while using the service, but several of the responses on Twitter have been quite negative. Most of the negativity comes from players angry that they have not received their credit yet, while others are upset at the fact that it's only $10 and not more. There doesn't seem to be any clear cut reason for when these credits are being dispersed to players, so it may be best to just stay patient.
While the PlayStation Network has been a tremendously popular service as a whole, it hasn't come without controversies. It wasn't until April 2019 when players could finally change their PSN name, despite years of players asking for it. However, after adding this requested feature, PlayStation revealed that players that changed their PSN Name could face disastrous issues in the games they play like LittleBigPlanet 3 and Everybody's Golf. Thankfully players don't need to worry about this with any game released after April 1, 2018.
