Sony's PlayStation Now subscription service doesn't seem to get quite the same attention as PlayStation Plus, but PS4 and PS5 gamers shouldn't sleep on it. PlayStation Now has come a long way since its streaming-only days, giving subscribers the ability to download many of its titles and play them in a more traditional fashion, plus it offers fans the chance to play some old-school PlayStation games as well.

PlayStation Now has hundreds of games available to play at any given time, with new titles added every month. The PlayStation Now games for November 2021 were just recently added, giving subscribers the chance to check out games like Mafia: Definitive Edition and Celeste. But while the PlayStation Now games for November 2021 just recently made their way to the service, some subscribers are already looking ahead to what December 2021 has to offer.

Sony usually doesn't announce the new PlayStation Now games for any given month until the month rolls around, which is much different to how it announces the free PS Plus games every month. Considering this, PlayStation Now subscribers likely won't know all the new PlayStation Now games for December 2021 until December 1 rolls around, but they do know of at least two PS Now titles in advance.

PlayStation Now New Games for December 2021

Final Fantasy 10-3 Story
  • Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD Remaster (December 7)
  • Grand Theft Auto 3: The Definitive Edition (December 7)

Sony has already confirmed two PlayStation Now games coming in December 2021, and they are heavy hitters for sure. First is Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD Remaster, the remastered collection that brings Final Fantasy 10 and its sequel Final Fantasy 10-2 together in a single package. Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD Remaster offers a lot of value for PlayStation Now subscribers as it features two full-length JRPG adventures. Those interested can check it out when the new PlayStation Now games are added on Tuesday, December 7.

Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD Remaster is coming to PlayStation Now as part of a greater initiative to bring more Final Fantasy series games to PlayStation's subscription service. It all started when Final Fantasy 7 was added to PlayStation Now in September, which was then followed by Final Fantasy 8 in October. One of the new PlayStation Now games for November 2021 is Final Fantasy 9, and so Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD is continuing the pattern with its addition to the service in December.

The Final Fantasy PlayStation Now game additions will wrap up in January when Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age joins the lineup. At that point, PlayStation Now subscribers will have access to nearly the entire PS1 to PS2 era Final Fantasy main series run, with the only game missing being Final Fantasy 11. But since Final Fantasy 11 is an older MMORPG, that's not exactly surprising.

It should be noted that the Final Fantasy games coming to PlayStation Now is happening at the expense of Xbox Game Pass. The PS1-era Final Fantasy games had all been available to play on Xbox Game Pass, but they've been slowly getting the boot as the titles have jumped ship to PlayStation Now. Final Fantasy 9 has already been removed from Xbox Game Pass, and Final Fantasy 8 is leaving Xbox Game Pass within the next couple of weeks.

Grand Theft Auto 3 The Definitive Edition cover

In the meantime, the new PlayStation Now games for December 2021 will have more in store for fans, as it's been confirmed that December 7 will also see the addition of Grand Theft Auto 3: The Definitive Edition to the service. Grand Theft Auto 3: The Definitive Edition is launching on November 11 as part of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition, a collection of remastered PS2-era Grand Theft Auto games.

Grand Theft Auto 3: The Definitive Edition isn't coming to PlayStation Now the day that the collection launches, but subscribers still only have to wait a month to get their hands on it. It usually takes months or even years for games to make their way to PlayStation Now, so this is much faster, to say the least.

As for the rest of the new PlayStation Now games for December 2021, it's hard to say what they will entail, but fans can rest assured that there will be more new additions to the service besides just Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD Remaster and Grand Theft Auto 3: The Definitive Edition. PlayStation Now subscribers will likely have to wait until December to learn about the rest of the games making their way to the service next month.

While they wait to learn about the next batch of PlayStation Now games, subscribers can check out the PlayStation Now games for November 2021. The lineup includes the aforementioned open world crime game Mafia: Definitive Edition, 2D platformer Celeste, and classic JRPG Final Fantasy 9. as well Totally Reliable Delivery Service.
