For many years PlayStation gamers had no practical way of tracking how long they had played certain games. This changed with the introduction of the PlayStation 5, however, PlayStation 4 owners still have to go through quite a process to find their in-game playtime. Luckily, it seems as though Sony has made the process a lot easier.

PlayStation, much like Apple Music and Spotify, released a year-in-review tool. This allows PlayStation gamers to access and share stats such as the number of games they have played, trophies they have earned, and their total playtimes on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The feature is far from groundbreaking as similar information is available to PC gamers via Steam year-round. It will, however, be exceptionally useful to PlayStation 4 gamers, many of whom most likely have no idea of their playtimes in some of their favorite games.

Players will also be able to see stats collectively achieved by PlayStation players such as the most popular weapon in Returnal. Xbox players, much like PC gamers, have been able to see their playtime statistics ever since the console first launched, which means it has taken the blue team some time to catch up.

This is not the first time that PlayStation has done a Wrap-Up, as the company offered similar information to users at the end of 2019 and 2020. It is unsure as to why the company has only made playtime information easily available to gamers at the end of every year as it is quite clear that the information is collected throughout the year.

In celebration of the PlayStation 2021 Wrap-Up, PlayStation is offering both PS4 and PS5 owners four free avatars if they access their PlayStation 2021 Wrap-Up page. At the beginning of 2020 PlayStation offered its users a free dynamic theme as well as 7 different avatars if players decided to access their Wrap-Up page back then. PlayStation gamers should view their Wrap-Up page sooner rather than later as there has been no date set as to when the avatars can no longer be claimed.

In other news relating to the company, Sony's stock price plummeted by a staggering $20 billion. The company is far from dire straits, however, as 2022 is still set to be a big year with many anticipated exclusive games set to release. The drop in stock price was the result of Microsoft's Activision Blizzard takeover and did not have anything directly to do with Sony.
