The PlayStation consoles have become a significant part of popular culture with the brand becoming easily recognizable to many. While the success of the PlayStation consoles is undoubtedly key in the brand's recognition, the company also uses other vehicles to promote the franchise. There are many different types of PlayStation apparel that players can get but some may avoid the latest collaboration with Zara.

Despite the success of the PlayStation franchise, some players have questioned the design decisions of the PlayStation 5 and the direction the company is going in aesthetically. The new collaboration does not fall into the same criticisms of the upcoming PlayStation 5 because it seems to be based on the original PlayStation but it won't change the minds of players who are worried about the style of the brand. The retro look has not resonated with fans and it is unlikely that the trainers made for children will be a resounding success.

The grey trainer has a PlayStation logo on the tongue as well as a velcro strap with button symbols. While this doesn't seem to be the worst inspiration the dull grey color and the busy back of the shoe have not pleased fans. There is a tag with PlayStation written on it and  "Power" written on the back, essentially making the shoe a mirror of the first PlayStation console. This is a confusing decision for a product for children as none of them will be able to remember the release of the console and the final result of the design is a dull grey trainer that looks very busy. Moreover, there is already a better alternative for fans of the original PlayStation.

Many have responded to the new sneakers by drawing attention to the Nike and PlayStation trainers which are more pleasing to the eye and this is because of its lighter color scheme and interesting style. Although it should be noted that this Zara collaboration is significantly cheaper setting buyers back $50. With that in mind, some consumers will consider this trainer because of its competitive pricing in comparison to the Nike versions. What is most surprising about these collaborations is that PlayStation is teaming up with two companies to make a trainer that is inspired by the original console at the same time.

There is no doubt that gaming-related trainers sell well and this was recently shown in the collaboration between Ninja and Adidas. With that in mind, PlayStation may be releasing both trainers to appeal to those who want to cherish very expensive trainers and those who want to have a practical pair that aren't likely to be kept pristine.
