Sony and PlayStation fans have been clamoring for more information on the upcoming PlayStation 5. While the console's release is still well into the future, that hasn't stopped certain retailers from setting up pre-order notification pages for the system.

The PlayStation 5 is estimated to release somewhere around next year's holiday shopping season. At this time, the console is still largely a question mark, as Sony has revealed very little about the system officially.

While there's still a lack of information, that doesn't mean that there isn't a way to be notified of when pre-orders become available. Several retailers, including Best Buy and Game (a UK-based store) are now offering pre-order notifications to alert users to the moment the PlayStation 5 becomes available for pre-order. It's likely a service that will be appreciated by fans, as the PlayStation 5 could potentially fly off store shelves and leave players who weren't quick to pre-order wanting.

While the specifics regarding the PlayStation 5 are still largely a mystery, that doesn't mean that there haven't been myriads of leaks and rumors swirling around the next-gen system. It's rumored that the PlayStation 5 may be backward compatible, for starters, and multiple images of dev testing kits have appeared online. The console wars are sure to continue, too, as comparisons between the Xbox Project Scarlett and PS5 continue to rage with rumors claiming that the PS5 can play games better than Project Scarlett.

Game developers are ready for the PlayStation 5's official reveal, too. The developers of games that are being or have been developed for the current generation of systems, like Cyberpunk 2077 and Control, have talked about how the next system will play the game even better than the PlayStation 4. Future games are also rumored to already be in development for Project Scarlett and the PS5, including Resident Evil 8 and Grand Theft Auto 6.

For now, gamers will have to wait until Sony is ready to place the PlayStation 5 on pre-order. This isn't likely to happen for a while yet, as the console hasn't even had an official reveal in the public eye, but with these pre-order pages fans will be ready when it does happen.
