Video games and pizza have a close association, with pizza being seen as a central part if any all-night gaming binge. However, the official Twitter account for Domino's Malaysia has taken that one step further, redesigning the PlayStation 5 as pizza in one of the best PS5 design memes yet.
Domino's didn't go so far as to bake an actual pizza in the style of the PS5, but it has created a mock-up similar to the others currently circulating the internet, which began to dominate social media after the PlayStation 5 design was revealed a few days ago. Perhaps more impressive is the DualSense controller that Domino's included with the image, which features two small pizzas in place of the thumbsticks.
Video games get promotional tie-ins pretty frequently, with Butterfingers pairing up with Final Fantasy 7 in one recent promo, so Domino's creation is nothing new, as far as the industry is concerned. Were a pizza-shaped PS5 to release, there would almost certainly be some type of market for it, though that seems pretty unlikely.
Besides memes, fans have also shared their very own special edition console creations, from Spider-Man: Miles Morales to Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot PlayStation 5 fan designs. Sony has teased special editions of the console, and its two-tone white and black design has been somewhat controversial, so there will likely be quite a few special editions of the console before all is said and done.
Of course, the PS5 isn't alone. Xbox fans have been creating their own Xbox Series X memes since that console was revealed, from being compared to a fridge to the ever-present comparisons to bananas as part of the "banana for scale" meme.
Both consoles are slated to release this holiday season, and while fans finally have an idea of how the consoles will look, there are still quite a few major question marks, with price being the largest area of concern. Sony and Microsoft have both promised more information in the coming months, but it seems clear that neither company wants to be the first to reveal the cost of its hardware. In the meantime, at least pizza remains relatively affordable.
The PS5 will release this holiday season.
