With just one month to go until Sony launches its next-generation PlayStation 5 console, the company has released a brand new system update for the PS4 that makes some important changes. PS4 update 8.00 unifies the Party and Messages system, adds new Avatars for players to customize their profiles with, gives players the option to mute all mics from the quick menu, adds more parental control options, enhances the 2-step verification process, updates the Remote Play app, and more. As far as PS4 system updates go, it's quite a big one, but it seemingly has some major problems.

Many fans online are reporting major PS4 update 8.00 issues, with them running into all sorts of problems since downloading the new update. Twitter user and industry insider Nibellion has said that people have been reporting issues with their friends list not loading at all, various problems trying to use party chat, and general stability issues. Users are warning each other against downloading PS4 update 8.00, but for some users, that won't be in the cards.

For example, some users may game-share with a family member, and so they are required to sign in to PSN to play games on their own PS4 console. Signing in to PSN is only possible now after downloading the 8.00 update. Not only that, but players are blocked out of utilizing many of the PS4's most important features if they don't sign in to PSN, so most won't be able to wait for the update 8.00 issues to be resolved before updating their consoles.

Those that have updated their PS4 consoles to version 8.00 are running into problems when trying to play games online. Taking a look at the replies on Sony's announcement for update 8.00 indicates that many users are having trouble connecting to online multiplayer games like Apex Legends and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Sony itself has yet to comment on the PS4 update 8.00 problems that players have been reporting.

While Sony has yet to comment, one has to imagine that the company is well-aware of the PS4 update 8.00 issues and is working on a fix. How long fans will have to wait for Sony to fix these problems remains to be seen, but considering the severity of the update 8.00 issues, things will likely get fixed sooner rather than later. Until then, those who are able to still game on their PS4 without updating the system may want to stay offline for a bit.

This isn't the first time a PS4 update has caused issues for players. Back in April, PS4 system update 7.5 was causing some major issues, though Sony fixed it before too long.
