PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Xbox One Release Date Revealed

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds developer PUBG Corp reveals when the game is coming to Xbox One Game Preview, as well as when it will be leaving early access on PC.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has been making waves in the online gaming community, selling over 15 million units and breaking Dota 2's concurrent player record - all while in early access. We've known for months that the smash hit PC gaming phenomenon would be making its way to the Xbox One by the end of the year, and now we have a firm release date. Xbox One owners can purchase PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds through the Xbox Game Preview program for $30 beginning December 12th.

In addition to revealing when PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds would be coming to Xbox One, we also have a better idea of when the game will be leaving early access on PC. According to PUBG Corp, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds will leave early access in late December, though a firm release date has yet to be set. We also don't know for sure if that applies to the Xbox One version of the game as well, though it's unlikely.

There's still a lot we don't know about the Xbox One version of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. It's unclear exactly which features will be included in the game once its hits early access on the console, though fans can expect it to lag behind the PC version when it comes to content updates and patches.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Sets Concurrent Player Record on Steam

While fans wait for more details on the Xbox One version of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, at least they have a set release date to look forward to now. The game's Xbox One console exclusivity was one of Microsoft's big surprises at this past year's E3 event, and in a holiday season lacking many major exclusives, it could be exactly what the console needs to give it some edge over its competition.

If PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds finds the same kind of success on Xbox One's early access program as it has on PC, then fans can expect Microsoft to extend its exclusivity deal, as has been previously rumored. After all, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has been an unprecedented hit on Steam, and it would benefit Microsoft greatly to have such a popular game console-exclusive to Xbox One on a permanent basis.
