Not long ago, the popular battle royale title PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds went live for the Xbox One, but there were some gamers who encountered a lot of problems with the release almost immediately after its launch for the console. With this being the case, the fine folks at Digital Foundry took a look at the game to see how it performs on the system, and the overall analysis doesn't look too good, as the outlet has found that the title runs poorly on the Xbox One.

As seen in the video below courtesy of Digital Foundry, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds fans can get a gander at the issues related to the Xbox One and Xbox One X versions, as both iterations are running simultaneously in split-screen–the latter's being shown on the left and the former on the right. For instance, while simply waiting in a full lobby, the game dips well under 20 FPS on the original Xbox One, while the Xbox One X struggles to hit 30 FPS.

While frame rate issues are abound for both the Xbox One and Xbox One X versions of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, the latter at least provides higher resolutions and decent textures, albeit ones that still need polishing. And although the game looks "absolutely dreadful" in both the lobby and plane drop at the start, the visuals start to improve once the action is underway. However, the Xbox One still has problems maintaining a consistent frame rate, as the differences between it and the Xbox One X version "varies dramatically."

Additionally, Digital Foundry points out that there appears to be some input lag in the Xbox One edition of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, making the battle mechanics rather difficult to pull off correctly. Even so, as is pointed out in the clip above, the battle royale game isn't particularly known for its extremely stable playthroughs on PC, so fans likely expected the Xbox One version to have some issues, too.

All things considered, it seems as if PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds on Xbox One is an experience that still needs some refinements, while jumping into the fray on the Xbox One X is akin to playing it on a higher-end gaming PC at times. And with the game now out in the wild for fans of Microsoft's current generation consoles, it will likely generate plenty of DLC to keep the battle alive on the systems for the foreseeable future.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is available now for PC and Xbox One.
