The Xbox One version of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has proven to be quite popular, recently hitting 3 million players on the console. The developers have been able to build the game's community on Xbox One thanks to frequent updates that are constantly making improvements, with the latest patch available to download now.

The latest patch for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds squashes some bugs and offers various performance enhancements for players still running into issues. However, one of the biggest changes in the new update is that pistols are no longer grouped with primary weapons, and are now equipped by pressing "Up" on the d-pad instead of using the Y button.

While this seems like a small change, it is actually quite important. Prior to the update, players in the midst of a firefight would sometimes have to cycle through their pistol to get to their better weapon. This could take a precious few seconds that could easily cost players' their lives in the game.

Thanks to the new update, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds players on Xbox One should now be able to use the best guns in the game without accidentally equipping their pistol in the midst of battle. However, the game still has a long way to go if it wants to match its PC counterpart.

There are a number of major updates on the way for the Xbox One version of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds before it will be able to leave early access. The developers have already revealed a couple of issues that will be addressed in PUBG's next update, namely a glitch that causes players to switch weapons when dropping items and the inability to cycle through grenade types using the d-pad.

While these quality of life improvements are certainly appreciated, PUBG fans on Xbox One have more substantial updates to look forward to in the future. Most notably, the desert map Miramar is on its way for the console, and if it's anything like the PC version, it may signal the game's transition from early access to a full release.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is available now for PC and on Xbox One through the Game Preview program.
