PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is finally making its debut on Xbox One, with the game going live at midnight on December 12. Those that have been anticipating the battle royale shooter may be wondering just how much hard drive space they need to reserve to play the game, and as it turns out, its file size is rather small.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is 5.24 GB on Xbox One. It's possible that the game will have a day one update that will increase its file size, but fans won't know for sure until the game itself goes live.

In the meantime, it's worth pointing out that the Xbox One file size for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds could be extended if players chose to purchase some of the cosmetic DLC that was available from December 7 to December 10. For the uninitiated, PUBG players have had the option to buy exclusive DLC for $10, and will have a couple more opportunities to do so in the near future. The Accessory Pack will be available from December 14 until December 17, and the Tracksuit Pack will be available from December 21 until December 24, both for $5 apiece.

Even if someone purchase all of the DLC for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, the file size should stay relatively small. This is good news for players that have yet to purchase a hard drive upgrade, as it means they may not have to delete any games off their console in order to download and play the critically-acclaimed battle royale game on launch day.

In the future, it's likely that the file size for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds will increase on Xbox One. After all, the developer is constantly working to improve the game through bug fixes and substantial content updates, like the new Miramar desert map. It makes sense for the game's file size to increase as it is updated and draws closer to its full release on Xbox One sometime next year.

With only one map, it's not all that surprising that PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has a rather small file size on the Xbox One. The size of the game shouldn't have much of an impact on how much players enjoy it, however, and it will be interesting to see if console gamers gravitate to it in the same way PC players have this past year.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds will be available through the Xbox Game Preview program starting December 12, and its full release on PC is coming December 20.
