Not long ago, Bluehole Studio finally revealed the long-awaited 2018 Road Map for the battle royale title, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, giving fans of the game new maps, an emote system, new cosmetics, and much more to look forward to this year. With the developer continuing to provide updates to the release and doing its best to engage with its fan base, it should come as no surprise that PUBG is one of the most popular titles on the planet, as it has now reached over five million players on Xbox One alone.

This is no small feat for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, especially when one considers the fact that it's a paid product that's been within the Xbox Preview Program for just three months while it continues to work its way toward full completion. In order to celebrate this milestone, the team behind PUBG is offering a free cosmetic in the form of a new green jacket that is pictured above at the beginning of the article. The item is going to be rewarded to all who own and have activated a character in the game on Xbox One as of March 22, 2018 at 12:01 AM PST.

In addition to the accomplishment of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds hitting five million players on Xbox One, Microsoft has also decided to share an infographic with fans to show off some interesting stats for the game, which can be seen directly above. Considering how quickly one can die in the game, the largest figure is understandably attributed to the use of healing items, as more than 4.5 billion bandages have been used in PUBG on Xbox One thus far.

Taking all of this into consideration, this most recent goal reached by PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds on Xbox One definitely shows that interest in battle royale titles hasn't waned one bit since the game's original release on PC caused a resurgence in popularity for the genre. Should the trend continue, we will likely see even more games of this style enter the fray, as Epic Games has already proven the ability to capitalize on the craze with its PUBG competitor Fortnite Battle Royale.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is available now on PC and in early access on Xbox One.
