For months, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds fans have been anticipating the release of the game’s desert map. While the desert map still has yet to be added to the game, we now know more details about it, including its name.

As revealed earlier today, the desert map in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is named Miramar. The new map is meant to be the polar opposite of the game’s Erangel map, offering a “harsh and unforgiving desert” in contrast to Erangel’s “lush fields and forests.” Due to the vastly different terrain, fans will have to employ new strategies and tactics if they hope to succeed.

Developer PUBG Corporation also revealed some of the landmarks that players will be able to visit in Miramar. These will include Los Leones, the largest city on the map, as well as Pecado, which includes a casino that players can loot. Other areas of interest include Chumacera, which features a number of a abandoned factories, and the oceanside town of Valle del Mar. Of course, Miramar will be filled with many other locations and secrets, but players will have to explore it themselves to find out.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Desert Map Has A Name and New Details - Miramar

Unfortunately, PUBG Corporation didn’t reveal exactly when Miramar will be added to the game. However, it did promise that players will have a chance to try the map before PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds leaves early access later this month, so an exact release date should come within the next couple of weeks.

In fact, a release date for the Miramar map could come as soon as tomorrow night. The Game Awards host Geoff Keighley has promised that the first footage of Miramar will debut at the show on December 7th, so fans of the game should be sure to tune in.

In the meantime, it will be interesting to see how long Xbox One players will have to wait for Miramar. PC fans can look forward to playing on the map later this month, but it may take some time before Xbox gamers are able to get in on the action.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is currently in early access on PC, but it will have its full release later this month. An Xbox One early access version is scheduled for December 12th.
