PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has become a smash hit on PC, even though the game is only available in early access. As announced by the official PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Twitter account, the massively multiplayer online survival game has reached a new sales milestone, selling 4 million copies in just three months.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds seems to have struck a chord with PC gamers, earning praise for its fast-paced gameplay and huge online battles. If developer Bluehole is able to keep the game supported with frequent updates and release it officially later this year, then there’s no reason to think it can’t become even more popular.
In fact, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is already set to become an even bigger game by the end of the year. Not only do fans have its full release to look forward to, but the game is making its way to consoles as well. As was announced at E3 2017, it’s coming to the Xbox One as a timed-console exclusive, with a PlayStation 4 release planned for a later date, presumably at some point in 2018. By coming to consoles, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds should be able to expand its community even further.

As previously stated, the game’s continued success is largely going to depend on the team to continue producing worthwhile content for its dedicated fans. As it turns out, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has plenty of new features and game modes on the way, with perhaps the most notable being a PvP Zombie mode that was announced at E3 2017 earlier this month.
Besides the PvP Zombie mode, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has other exciting features in the works as well. For example, players can expect climbing, vaulting, and different weather effects to be added in a future update.
All of the new content planned for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds should keep fans engaged with the title for now, but it will be interesting to see how else the concept will evolve in the future. In the meantime, fans can expect the PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds community to grow in size as more people become aware of the game.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is currently available in early access on PC, with an Xbox One and PS4 release planned for the future.
