It's been an active few weeks for the popular battle royale game PlayerKnown's Battlegrounds after the game began a small test for a new and smaller map known only as Savage. While the testing has since wrapped up, the game is also planning to kick off its first custom game event to add some unique gameplay moments similar to what Fortnite has managed to perfect over the past few months. After teasing fans with the addition a couple of weeks ago, the first event is finally live.

Known as Tequila Sunrise, the new event changes the rules from what traditional PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds players are used to. Taking place on the Miramar map, Tequila Sunrise is a four map squad only mode that has all weapon types disabled except for melee and shotgun weapons. Ammunition and level 3 bags, armor, and helmets also have a three times higher spawn rate than normal as well.

Other unique modifiers for this event include the day and time set to sunrise, while care packages have been completely disabled. Immediately after entering into the airplane at the start of the match, players will see the first safe zone, which will also be a lot smaller than normal. Needless to say, this should make for faster matches with a lot more combat right off the bat.  Interested players only have 72 hours to jump in as it comes to a close on April 8th, 7pm PDT.

While fans will no doubt be happy with the influx of new content, recent events haven't been all positive for the developer. While likely looking to avoid another potential Fortnite situation, Bluehole is taking developer NetEase to court over what it feels are copyright and trademark violations for two smartphone games called Knives Out and Rules of Survival. This wouldn't be the first case of a potential clone style game from NetEase, as the developer also created FortCraft, a smartphone game that is suspiciously similar to Fortnite.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is available now on Android and iOS devices, PC, and Xbox One.
