The PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Xbox One release date is right around the corner; console players only have to wait until next week to play the popular battle royale game. But although Xbox One players can't get their hands on the game just yet, they will be able to purchase some cosmetic DLC before the game launches.

Microsoft has announced that the first of three exclusive DLC packs for the game is about to go on sale. From December 7 until December 10, Xbox One players will be able to purchase the $10 PUBG Warrior Pack, which includes a balaclava hat, camo t-shirt, a pair of pants, and some tennis shoes. While $10 may seem like a high price for just four items, it's worth noting that some PUBG players are willing to pay thousands of dollars for cosmetics.

Then, from December 14 until December 17, the PUBG Accessory Pack will be available for $5 and appears to offer a hat and some fingerless gloves. And finally, there's the $5 PUBG Tracksuit Pack that will be on sale from December 21 until December 24 and appears to offer a pair of white tracksuit pants with a matching tracksuit jacket.

Microsoft explains that these are the only in-game purchases that will be available for PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds players while the game is part of the Xbox Game Preview program. The "rare cosmetics" are also described as being "exclusive to Xbox fans."

Cosmetic exclusivity is a decision that may not go down well with PC players given that fans are the reason for the game's phenomenal success. PUBG's success, naturally, is why the game is coming to Xbox One in the first place and so it's understandable if some PC players take this as a slight. It will be interesting to see whether the new apparel is truly exclusive to Xbox One or if it's only a timed deal and the cosmetics will come to PC further down the line.

However, the DLC reveal is not the only major PUBG announcement coming this week, so fans may not find even find the time to fret about exclusivity deals. Tomorrow, new gameplay footage of the game's desert map will be revealed during The Game Awards.

The footage will hopefully include plenty of gameplay of the desert map's exclusive pickup truck and all of the weapons that the map is going to introduce too. If the footage is promising enough, cosmetics will be the last thing on fans' minds.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is currently in early access on PC, but it will have its full release later this month. An Xbox One early access version is scheduled for December 12th.
