The Xbox Series X is still very difficult for fans to get their hands on due to a shortage caused by the ongoing pandemic. But once fans are able to get their hands on an Xbox Series X, it seems that they will be able to get it to run on a Nintendo DS.

The Xbox Series X is desired by many fans for its increase in power and visual capabilities over the previous generation of video game consoles. The console is capable of outputting 4K resolution, complete with up to 120 frames-per-second and complete with ray-tracing and other flashy new features.

Regardless of the Xbox Series X's potential, YouTube channel The Retro Future has released a video detailing how to get the console to display on a Nintendo DS. Their method utilizes an old Nintendo DS TV Tuner, which is an old accessory that used to allow DS owners to pick up analog TV signals in Japan and display them on the DS. The devices are very rare and were only ever sold in Japan. The Retro Future, however, uses it to play a game of Rocket League on the DS by turning it into a monitor for the Xbox Series X to display on.

The device attaches to the bottom of the console and has ports allowing for external AV cables to be plugged in. The channel takes an HDMI to AV converter to translate the signal, and that is enough to get the Xbox Series X running on the DS. The video even shows them playing a Rocket League game on the small screen, although it requires quite a lot of squinting. Regardless, it is a fun discovery and is an interesting bridge between old and new games hardware. The only problem is that the DS TV Adapter may be even harder to get than an Xbox Series X.

Of course, the use of a DS as a screen for the Xbox Series X is not very applicable in most situations. This is especially true with Xbox Game Pass being available on mobile phones, which provides a mobile Xbox experience on a likely larger screen. Regardless, it is still a cool find, and a fun way to look at a long-forgotten accessory for the Nintendo DS that many people never even knew about. As the Xbox Series X is more available and gets in the hands of more fans, hopefully, there will be more cool and fun things that players manage to do with them.
