Ghost of Tsushima releases its new, free Legends DLC today, with the update adding several co-op modes to the game. Many Ghost of Tsushima players have long been preparing to play it, as it was a sudden, out-of-the-blue announcement not long ago, and one that was incredibly enticing.

Developer Sucker Punch Productions' hit title is getting Legends added as part of its version 1.1 update, and Ghost of Tsushima players can download the 9GB file for free from the PlayStation Store. Starting it after that is a relatively simple process, but there is a thing or two fans should keep in mind.

There's more than one way players are able to access the new co-op mode. They can either speak with Gyozen, a new character in the game whose voice will sound familiar to Avatar: The Last Airbender fans, or they may simply select it as an option from the main menu. From there, a tutorial to brush-up on the game's core mechanics will appear, in addition to a run-through of the unique abilities of each class that is available to select from. The DLC offers four-player survival missions and two-player story missions, and will have at least one raid added at a later date.

The four classes that'll be defending Tsushima Island are Assassin, Hunter, Ronin, and Samurai. Players will begin by initially picking one class, unlocking the rest as they progress through the game's many modes and features. Each class has its own unique strengths and abilities, bringing different roles to a group, and the Assassin functions in a similar way to Jin's Ghost, having an emphasis on both stealth and sneak attacks. Players that prefer striking from afar should consider the Hunter, who focuses primarily on long-range combat utilizing a Longbow. Ronin serves as a support class, able to summon Spirit Dogs and capable of reviving their entire team, while the samurai has a fairly equal balance of offense and defense, with a reliance on fighting with their katana. However, there is even more than is known about Ghost of TsushimaLegends classes.

Ghost of Tsushima's new content doesn't just end with the addition of Legends. More customization with gear loadouts and plenty of new cosmetics means a deeper level of style when fighting Mongols than ever before. The update introduces a new merchant, a new horse, cosmetics, trophies and more in New Game+, and the Ghost of Tsushima update even lets players pet dogs.

Version 1.1 adds more depth and new challenges that connect with the story of base game. This massive free update for the record-selling Ghost of Tsushima looks to keep interest in the game well through the holiday season, but of course, it remains to be seen if that plays out.

Ghost of Tsushima is available now for PS4.
