There are many different indie games that will be releasing next year, with many of them looking quite gorgeous. Many of the ones that will be coming to Xbox are looking quite promising too. This can range from the atmospheric and dreary Somerville, to the cute Zelda-esque action adventure title Tunic. Another one of these indie side-scrollers will be another gorgeous-looking game, known as Planet of Lana from indie developer Wishfully.

Planet of Lana was first revealed earlier this year at the Summer Game Fest, complete with a trailer showing a young girl named Lana and her cat-like companion. The side-scoller also shows off Lana and her cat being pursued by something sinister, with spider-like robots chasing after her. The game then showed off a second trailer at the The Game Awards not only showing off more of the gameplay, but also the music being scored by Takeshi Furukawa, of The Last Guardian fame.

According to Furukawa, after his work on The Last Guardian was finished, he met with the Swedish studio who shared its vision for Planet of Lana. The composer fell in love with the concept of the adventures with the heartfelt duo, coming on board the project. This was then followed by a new trailer of Planet of Lana, which gave fans a taste of what to expect regarding the game and its music.

This new Planet of Lana trailer showed off Lana riding on the back of one of the spider-like robots that was shown off in the previous trailer, crossing the planet's surface. She is however attacked a series of robots while traveling through the desert, with many of the robots ranging in shapes and sizes. They all seem to be pursuing her for an unknown reason, all the while Furukawa's bombastic score being played in the background. The ending shot of the trailer shows Lana face down in the dirt after being attacked by the robots, with her companion trying to wake her up.

Besides the composer, The Last Guardian even has a similar premise to Planet of Lana, where players are placed in the shoes of a protagonist accompanied by an animal companion. The difference being that Trico is a giant griffin-like beast while Lana's cat-like creature is much smaller in comparison. The trailer shows that Planet of Lana has a lot of promise, thanks to its beautiful visuals being bolstered by Furukawa's intense orchestral score.

Planet in Lana is set to release in 2022 for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
